My thoughts:
Magic Unleashed by Devri Walls is a fantastic story full of magic, supernatural creatures and badass characters 💪 The story follows both Rune and Grey on their journey through a magical world they never even knew existed. Grey has always had a fascination for the supernatural, and studies them every spare moment he has. Rune has always had an ‘itch’, as she calls it. Whenever she encounters something supernatural, it awakens something primal inside her that is desperate to get out.

They meet Tate, a blue-skinned being who talks of vampires, werewolves and fae, who saves them from a goblin attack and takes them into this other world through a portal. When the chaos is over and they narrowly escape the goblins clutches, Rune realises her twin brother Ryker was left behind, and most likely captured. Filled with grief and desperate to get her brother back, Rune vows to stop at nothing to do so.

Tate tells them they are Venators, warriors with the power to defeat and kill the supernatural creatures they have only discovered are in fact real, and he has hand-picked them especially for the council. On their journey from the fae woods to the council house they meet Verida, a vampire, and the daughter of Dracula himself. Together, they begin to make their way to the council, with werewolves hot on their trail.

On the way, Rune and Grey learn about Zio, a woman with immense power and control who’s one goal is to overthrow the council and take the world for herself… and she has Ryker. She is the reason both Rune and Grey were brought to this world. Their job is to do the council’s bidding and destroy her.

When a family is attacked by the werewolves that chased Rune and Grey to the council house, they both set out to save them, against the council’s wishes. However, the rescue mission goes horribly wrong and with the much needed help of Beltran, a shape-shifter, they manage to escape somewhat unscathed.

However, their fight isn’t over yet. When Zio learns the two Venators have left the safety of the castle, she releases her dragon to hunt them down and kill them. What follows is an incredible battle that shows the powerful strength Grey and Rune didn’t know they had. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it 😀

I really enjoyed reading Magic Unleashed ❤️ The characters are amazing! Beltran is definitely my favourite! His shape-shifting abilities are so cool 😀 He is so mysterious too, and I’m still unsure where his loyalties truly lie. I feel like he is going to play a bigger part in the next two books. I can’t wait to read them and find out where they’re going to take these characters.
