Title: Places We've Never Been
Author: Kasie West
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
Publishing date: 31st May 2022
Rating: 4/5 stars

A sweet and swoony contemporary Young Adult novel about a cross-country family road trip that puts one girl and her childhood best friend on an unexpected road to romance!

Norah hasn’t seen her childhood best friend, Skyler, in years. When he first moved away, they’d talk all the time, but lately their relationship has been reduced to liking each other’s Instagram posts. That’s why Norah can’t wait for the joint RV road trip their families have planned for the summer.

But when Skyler finally arrives, he seems…like he’d rather be anywhere else. Hurt and confused, Norah reacts in kind. Suddenly, her oldest friendship is on the rocks.

An unexpected summer spent driving across the country leads both Norah and Skyler down new roads and to new discoveries. Before long, they are, once again, seeing each other in a different light. Can their friendship-turned-rivalry turn into something more?

My thoughts: Places We’ve Never Been is a cute, swoon-worthy romance perfect for summer reading. This book everything from an enemies to lovers trope to secrets to family drama. I could not put it down!

We join Norah and her family on their yearly joint road trip with her best friend Skyler’s family. Norah hasn’t seen Skyler in years and is excited to see him again after so long and having lost touch. However, Skyler is acting like he would rather be anywhere else than on this roadtrip.

Norah and Skyler were hands down the cutest couple I’ve read about in a while. They are both such likeable characters. Even though the way Skyler acts around Norah in the beginning was pretty annoying, he has a reasonable explanation and my opinion of him changed.

I really enjoyed the roadtrip theme of this book. Getting to see all the places they go and activities they get up to really made me excited for summer! There is a more serious aspect towards the end of the book, which I won’t spoil too much, but the moms had a reason to suddenly plan the last-minute roadtrip.

Hope you all enjoyed my review! If you’re looking for a cute summer read, this is the one for you! Happy reading x
