My thoughts: In the Serpent’s Wake is a fantastic coming-of-age series which follows Tess’s journey to save her friend. This book picks up right after the events of the first book TESS OF THE ROAD. Tess is sailing south to help her friend reach the pole serpent.

During the course of this story, Tess begins to come to terms with her past and heal from the terrible things she has experienced. She has come a long way from the resentful girl we were introduced to in the first book.

This story is told from many different points of view, which I really enjoyed as I could experience the world though different characters perspectives. I enjoyed reading from Tess’s perspective the most. We can see her maturing as she travels through this new world that has gotten a lot bigger for her.
