First Line Friday

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? I saw this over on The Anatomy of a Bookworm but it was originally hosted by Wandering Words.

Rules:
> Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
> Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
> Finally… reveal the book!

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all having a great Friday ❤️ How are you all doing? I hope you enjoy this week’s First Line Friday! I’m so excited to read the book I’m featuring this week! It sounds so good! ❤️ Let me know in the comments if you guessed it. Here we go! 😀

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was late afternoon, on the very last Wednesday of August, when I realized Disney had been lying to me for quite some time about Happily Ever Afters. Because, you see, I was four days into mine, and my prince was nowhere to be found. Gone. Vanished.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales. Summer love…gone so fast. Will Tavares is the dream summer fling―he’s fun, affectionate, kind―but just when Ollie thinks he’s found his Happily Ever After, summer vacation ends and Will stops texting Ollie back. Now Ollie is one prince short of his fairy tale ending, and to complicate the fairy tale further, a family emergency sees Ollie uprooted and enrolled at a new school across the country. Which he minds a little less when he realizes it’s the same school Will goes to…except Ollie finds that the sweet, comfortably queer guy he knew from summer isn’t the same one attending Collinswood High. This Will is a class clown, closeted―and, to be honest, a bit of a jerk. Ollie has no intention of pining after a guy who clearly isn’t ready for a relationship, especially since this new, bro-y jock version of Will seems to go from hot to cold every other week. But then Will starts “coincidentally” popping up in every area of Ollie’s life, from music class to the lunch table, and Ollie finds his resolve weakening. The last time he gave Will his heart, Will handed it back to him trampled and battered. Ollie would have to be an idiot to trust him with it again. Right? Right.

Did anyone guess what book it was? 😀 I’ve been dying to read this book ever since I watched Irish Reader’s reading vlog of it 😀 Simon vs. the Homo Sapians Agenda meets Clueless in this boy-meets-boy spin on Grease? Yes please!! Have you guys read Only Mostly Devastated yet? Let me know what you thought in the comments. No spoilers please! ❤️ Hope you all enjoyed! Bye guys, happy reading! x
