Title: Heartstopper Volumes 1 & 2
Author: Alice Oseman
Pages: 558
Publisher: Hodder Children's Books
Rating: 5/5 stars

*spoiler warning*

Heartstopper follows Charlie, a quiet, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player. They go to the same school, but they’ve never met… until one day when they’re sat next to each other after being put in the same form group. Nick and Charlie quickly become friends, and Charlie begins to develop feelings for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he’ll ever have a chance. He is told as much by his closest friend Tao, who doesn’t want to see Charlie get hurt after what happened to him last year after being outed. But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is more interested in Charlie than either of them realised.

My thoughts:
Nick and Charlie first appeared in Alice Oseman’s first book Solitaire and Heartstopper is the story of how they met. Heartstopper is cute, romantic and absolutely melted my heart. The FEELS omg ❤ The amazing artwork is illustrated by the author Alice Oseman herself. I don’t read graphic novels very often, but this one has me obsessed with them now 😀 The characters are so pure, and I ship Nick and Charlie so hard!! They are so cute together and I was rooting for them the whole novel. Nick is really protective of Charlie and I love how he stands up for him against his own friends when they are being rude and making fun of him. Heartstopper addresses bullying, homophobia, mental health and eating disorders.

What I liked:
> Alice Oseman writes the most adorable characters that I instantly fell in love with. I was hooked from the very first page ❤ There are so many cute moments between them throughout the story.
> Nick and Charlie’s relationship is so adorable. I am completely obsessed with them. Reading their little texts back and forth were definitely one of my favourite moments between them swoon ❤ These precious boys will always hold a place in my heart.
> The amazing group of friends supporting Nick and Charlie. They are such great friends that they can both open up to and they all look out for one another ❤
> My favourite moment ever was in Volume 3 (which can be read online) when Nick, Charlie and all their friends go on a school trip to France. The group decide to head next door to hangout in the girls’ hotel room, leaving Nick and Charlie alone. Darcy and Aled come back to see if they’re coming with them and find Nick and Charlie kissing, and Darcy just says: ‘Oh. You’re being gay. Good job. Carry on.’ And walks back out. Seriously the funniest thing I’ve ever read in my life. I laughed so hard hahaha 😀

What I didn’t like:
> There wasn’t anything about Heartstopper that I didn’t like. Well, maybe that cliffhanger at the end of volume 1!!! Damn!! Thank god I had volume 2 so I could continue straight away haha 😀 But no I absolutely loved Heartstopper, it’s definitely my number one read of this year.

Heartstopper can be read online on Tumblr and on Tapas, a webcomic site. This comic had me crying, laughing out loud and squealing with joy. It is definitely a must read and I suggest picking it up as soon as humanly possible! Hahaha 😀 Let me know in the comments what you all thought of Heartstopper ❤ Bye guys, happy reading! xx
